You’re Engaged! Now What?
1. Share
For some of you this may be almost immediate, while others may need more time. There’s no right or wrong timeline. We simply recommend that you personally tell your close friends and family out of respect, before going viral on Instagram.
2. Insure Your Bling
You now carry a very valuable asset on your finger. Insurance can financially protect you in case something happens to your ring. Find a trustworthy insurance advisor for your ring, but also, as you start life with your partner your insurance needs will start change.
3. Set Your Expectations
Take time to align on the big, overarching details with your fiancé. This includes:
Budget
General timeline and wedding month
What type of wedding you both want (local, destination, intimate, grand, etc.)
Communication game plan (create a strategy upfront to avoid miscommunication and discord)
4. Get Organized
It’s checklist time! Create your own wedding syllabus. There are lots of apps available to help you list in detail what you need to accomplish. While you may add or take away from your “to-do” list, this will at least help you set your intentions in advance.
5. Create Your Guestlist
Your guestlist will help you determine many of your next decisions (such as venue size). Schedule time to create your guest list. This also includes connecting with key family members to appropriately consider their requests and set healthy boundaries or expectations.
6. Enjoy Your Engagement
This could come in the form of a vacation or a party with your loved ones. So often, engagements are overflowing with planning. Enjoy and celebrate this unique season. Need help celebrating? Give us a call!
8. Schedule Your Save the Date Photoshoot
This takes care of two major tasks – finding a photographer and getting out your save-the-date.
8. Create a Website
A website provides convenience. You will want to make sure to include your website on all necessary paper materials so that your guests can find the details, especially if they lose your paper invitation.
10. Remember Your Relationship Health Takes Priority!
Planning can be stressful. Keep perspective and never hesitate to ask for help!
