3 Tips to Picking Long-Lasting Florals
Today, we want to give you a behind the scenes preview so that you too can pick healthy flowers, even at your local market. Our very own Founder and Creative Director, Bisi Ogunduyile, has a few tricks up her sleeve to assess the quality of florals. The next time you’re looking for a stunning bouquet that will last, keep these 3 simple tips in mind.
1. Petals Don’t Lie
Petals should obviously appear fresh. This means they are bright and not browning or wilting. Of course, a few corners here and there are natural, but if you find multiple, this is an indication that they’ve been sitting too long or were put back.
2. How Vibrant are the Leaves?
Leaves should be vibrant and perky. Look closely at the joints where the leaves meet the stem. If it’s browning or the leaves are very fragile and falling off, you will want to put this bouquet back where you found it. It will not last.
3. Water Always Tells a Story
Finally, look at the water. Some bouquets have a water bag already secured to the bottom of the stems; others are simply placed in a bucket of water. Either way, this water should look clear, fresh, and full! You do not want your flowers to start out thirsty.
